Absolutely agree with all of this. Also, related, dating apps have "commodified" people. It's a pretty cynical situation when looking for a "romantic partner" can be likened to scrolling through Amazon for a product to consume. I'd say the sorry state of affairs between young adult men and women (and even those older), kind of speaks for itself.

I don't think about this enough. It is frightening—but very true. Sounds like we're turning people into on-demand services...which has all sorts of horrifying connotations if you think about it for more than a couple of seconds.

I fall prey to this. It's hard not to see creators as products because of the emphasis on personal branding...then, when they don't do what we expect, we get annoyed or demanding.
