It's a great book and I am thankful for the megaphone he has given to those of us fighting for kids, but he says age 16 for social media only because he thinks that's what will get passed into law. The data says 18. When he says that kids sneak social media accounts, this should really raise the age of smartphone ownership to age 18 too. Haidt is a fantastic communicator and I think everyone should read this book, but let's not take his 4 recommendations as the goal. Let's raise the bar for our kids & give them what they really need: no smartphones before high school graduation. https://dearchristianparent.substack.com/p/haidt

I haven’t read yet, but it’s on my list. That first quote is interesting. Does he talk at all about how badly social media is affecting adults, too?

i think a little bit, but the main point of the book is looking at young people and the roots of their anxiety, so that's the main focus.
